Sticking with the theme of “misunderstood,” I think that it would be neat to hit one of the 9th Grade Standards (distinguishing between different genres, specifically looking at poetry and prose). I actually found a really cool assignment on the Georgia Standards Website that looked like it could easily be modified to fit this theme. I would take a commonly “misunderstood” poem (Maybe Robert Frost’s “The Road Not Taken”) and possibly have my students recreate it as prose.
